As we edge ever closer to the release of Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS, character reveals are coming more frequently. Today, Nintendo posted a new reveal video to its Smash Bros website revealing three (or maybe three-and-a-half?) new fighters. One of them is the expected return of a classic fighter, Captain Falcon. Many who had been worried that he hadn’t been announced yet breathed a sigh of relief with this video. Much more interesting, though, is the reveal of the new-to-the-series fighters.
Coming from Fire Emblem: Awakening, the characters Lucina and Robin have been confirmed by the new video as part of the Smash Bros roster. Gameplay clips seems to show Lucina playing very similar to another Smash Bros classic character, Marth, with some posts in a few Reddit threads worrying that she may be a clone character. Robin (the player character of Awakening) looks to use a dual melee/magic style, reflecting the character’s jack-of-all-trades abilities in Awakening. As Robin was customizable down to his or her sex in the game, players will be able to make this choice in Smash Bros as well.
The “half” character reveal comes from Awakening as well, with main story character Chrom looking like he’ll be part of Lucina’s and/or Robin’s final smash move.
Super Smash Bros is set for release in North America and Europe on October 3rd for 3DS. The Wii U version does not yet have a release date. The character reveal trailer can be seen below.
